Deb Stern 2015 YMCA Dream House

In Her Words: With dove gray cabinetry, sea blue and sand-colored granite, soft white walls, and large bay windows welcoming in abundant light, I envisioned a soothing gathering space that would easily accommodate two cooks, with defined prepping and cooking areas. The relaxed palette comes to life next to a glass tile mosaic backsplash that’s iridescent sky blueshot through with gold. For an interesting pattern in the cascade window treatments, I went with a Tiffany blue Jacobian fabric. The Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired geometric lighting adds a fun transitional element, in squared-off shapes in aquamarine and orange. To make the most of a small space and promote better flow, I designed a peninsula instead of an island, and went with bench seating to complement the Amish dining table. The generously sized farmhouse sink and glass-doored walk-in pantry make the space seem bigger, too.

About Me: My mother reports that even as a small child I was rearranging furniture in my dollhouse. Now 30 years later, with degrees in art and interior design, I specialize in kitchens and baths. But my main focus continues to be helping clients who are building or renovating homes with all their selections from roof shingles to foundation brick and everything in between including windows, siding, paint colors, lighting, plumbing, flooring. I have worked on many rooms in the various dream houses and I am also certified to design age-in-place, barrier free homes.
